10yr old Nigerian girl accepted on university course in the UK to study maths degree
She spends her spare time in a similar way to many other ten-year-old girls - playing with Barbie dolls and making loom bands. But
the key difference between Esther Okade and other children her age is
that she has been accepted to study for a university maths degree -
despite not going to school.
Esther,
from Walsall, West Midlands, has enrolled on an Open University course
months after she passed her A-levels - and wants to study for a PhD
before running her own bank.

Al-Shabaab threatens to attack shopping malls in U.S, UK, Canada
Somalia-based terror group, Al-Shabaab released a video online over the
weekend calling for attacks on shopping malls in Canada, the UK and the
United States. In the propaganda video posted Saturday February 21st,
the al Qaeda-linked terror group reminded the world of its September
2013 attack on Westgate mall in Kenya in which over 60 people were
killed and called for similar attacks on major malls in the three
Western countries. Al-Shabaab identified specific malls, but
international media is not listing the malls...

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has said that the hope of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to seize power in Nigeria, using Major General Mohammadu Buhari (rtd) will be dashed saying; "Buhari will never be Nigeria president again."
The governor also challenged Buhari to swear by the Holy Quran that he did not visit hospital in the United Kingdom last week.

Pres. Jonathan today commissioned the 750 megawatts Olorunsogo II Power
Station in Olorunsogo, Ifo LGA of Ogun state. While commissioning the
project, President explained that a total of $650m was committed to the
power plant. He later had a meeting with some traditional rulers in the

Four Navy Ships have been acquired by the Nigerian Navy with two more to
be delivered. Heard the Shagari government was the last government to do

Nigerian military begins airstrikes in Sambisa and parts of Gwoza
The Nigerian military says it has started airstrikes on Sambisa Forest
and parts of Gwoza in Borno state. According to a statement posted on
the Defence Headquarters Facebook page, many Boko Haram members have
been killed as a result of the airstrikes. The statement below
Boko Haram: 158 kidnapped victims reunite with families in Yobe
A total of 158 Women and children abducted by Boko Haram insurgents from
Katarko village in Yobe have been reunited with their families in
Damaturu, Yobe.
The victims were released by the sect members after three weeks of
captivity.
Alhaji Ahmed Goniri, the state Commissioner for Justice and Chairman of
the State Committee on Rehabilitation of Victims of Insurgency, said
this while addressing newsmen in Damaturu on Thursday.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has said that the secret trip made today, by the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Major General Mohammadu Buhari (rtd) to the United Kingdom (UK) enroute United States of America (USA) for medical treatment has shown that the APC leaders, especially Senator Bola Tinubu were covering up his (Buhari) true health status for their selfish gains.
Buhari travelled to the UK today unannounced, fueling speculations that he was flown abroad in an air ambulance.

Malawi has passed a law banning child marriage. The minimum age for marriage has now been lifted to 18.
This is a significant milestone for Malawi, a country where half of the girls typically end up as child brides, Reuters reports.

INEC chairman appears before the Senate to explain election postponement
Speaking to members of the Senate, Prof Jega talked about politicians who are rumoured to have bought PVCs in some parts of Nigeria like in Ebonyi state where about 300 PVCs were stolen. He said that stealing PVCs is an exercise in futility as the cards would be useless during elections.

Missing $20bn: GEJ receives Forensic Audit Report on Finances of the NNPC (photos)
President Jonathan today received the forensic audit
report on the finances of the NNPC which was launched after former CBN
governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi raised alarm over $20 billion
missing from the NNPC coffers. The report was presented by Price Water
Cooper’s country senior partner, Uyi Akpala and the Risk and Quality

Pres. Jonathan was not the target in today's bomb blast - Police
The Nigeria Police says President Jonathan was not the target of the
bomb blast that happened outside the Pantami stadium, venue of the PDP
Presidential rally in Gombe state earlier today. In an interview with
Premium Times, the Gombe state Police command spokesperson, Fwaje
Atajiri, said GEJ had long gone when the female suicide bomber stormed
the road close to the venue of the rally.
