GOVERNOR
Sule Lamido of Jigawa State like two of his former colleagues in the G7
Governors of the newPDP has taken on Presidency on what may be
perceived as the marginalization of the North.
Lamido who opened
up on the lack of federal presence in the State said Jonathan has failed
to fulfill the campaign promises he made to Jigawa people.
Sule
Lamido who said this yesterday when the minister of Agriculture, Dr.
Akinwumi Ayodeji Adesina paid him a courtesy visit in his office said
the Hadejia irrigation scheme which was started in 1980 during Shagari
regime and was abandoned is still at its comatose stage despite
Jonathan’s assurance.
He said despite the fact that the area is capable of providing food for the entire nation the federal government has turned it into campaign bait.
“During
Jonathan’s campaign for 2011 election he made promises on the project,
two years earlier the vice president visited the place and made similar
commitments and up till the moment nothing is being done.”
He said after that he met Jonathan and spoke to him in political language; ‘scratch my back and I scratch your own’.
“We gave him our votes and we wanted something in return. In the last five years
there has never been any project specific for the State. We have CBN
but it is also in other States like Osun and Ogun. We have police
headquarters these are national symbols that are present in all other
States. Nothing has come to our State specifically.
“I talked to
him on desert encroachment but up till now nothing has been done, we
planted 13million trees in the last six years to fight the menace but no
support from the federal government.”
He said his administration made presentation to him on Dutse water works for support but nothing has been done.
